About Westnet
Westnet Logistics is one person. My name is Doug West. I’m the founder — and also the developer, the designer, and the support inbox.
Why the free tools are free
I spent years on the shipper side of freight. Surprise fees, reclassed pallets, invoices that didn’t match the quote. The math to check any of it is not a secret — but most of the calculators live inside TMS platforms and 3PL portals, behind a signup form and a sales call.
So I built my own set and put it on the open web. The site is a growing shelf of them: freight class, dimensional weight, detention, pallet math, linear feet, invoice auditing, and more. No signup. No email wall. Type your numbers, get your answer, close the tab.
A lot of “free” freight calculators are lead forms with math attached — your shipment details become someone’s sales pipeline. That is not how this site works. The free tools are just free.
What pays the bills
Freight Desk Pro — $50 a month. Every tool on the site can be used by hand for free. Pro adds the part I always wanted at a real freight desk: enter a shipment once, and its details flow into the BOL, the packing slip, the placards, and the calculators automatically. The free tools do the math; Pro remembers your shipment.
If you only ship a few times a month, you may never need it. That’s fine. The free tools stay free either way.
What else I make
I also publish freight and logistics apps for Android under the Westnet name — small, focused calculators that work offline and collect no data.
