What all-in cost per mile tells you
The all-in cost per mile rolls every charge on the invoice — linehaul, fuel, and accessorials — into one number you can divide across the miles. That’s what makes it a benchmarking figure: two carriers can quote the same linehaul but land far apart once fuel and accessorials are counted, and the per-mile view surfaces that gap.
Cost per mile = (linehaul + fuel + accessorials) ÷ miles
Not the same as carrier CPM
A trucking company’s operating cost per mile counts fuel, driver pay, maintenance, insurance, and overhead — the cost to run the asset. This tool is the shipper-side rate per mile: what you pay. Use it to compare lanes and quotes, not to reverse-engineer a carrier’s margin.
