How the estimate works
Not all of a building stores pallets. First take the usable share — the floor left after docks, staging, offices, and charging. Then divide by the floor one ground position needs, footprint plus its share of the aisle. That gives ground-level positions; multiply by levels high for the total.
Positions = (area × usable %) ÷ floor per position × levels
Rack configuration is the big lever
The floor a position needs depends on how you rack. Selective wide-aisle is the most accessible but least dense; drive-in, double-deep, and very narrow aisle pack in more by trading away aisle or direct access. The preset fills a typical figure — override Floor per position with your own number for an exact layout.
