RFP / Bid Lane Analyzer
A freight bid is only as good as its worst lanes. Drop your whole lane list in — miles, volume, and the bid rate — and this scores the total award spend plus the cost per mile and cost per pound for every lane, so you can see exactly where a carrier's number is rich or lean.
Your lanes
One row per lane: distance, annual shipments, and the bid rate per shipment. Average weight is optional (it powers the cost-per-pound column). Paste straight from your bid workbook or import a CSV.
| Lane | Miles | Shipments/yr | Rate | Annual spend | $/mile | $/lb |

Score the whole bid, not one lane
In an LTL or truckload RFP a carrier rarely wins on every lane. One rate can look sharp while another quietly carries the award. Rolling all the lanes together — rate × annual volume — gives you the real total spend you're committing to, and normalizing each lane to cost per mile and cost per pound lets you compare a 200-mile lane against a 1,500-mile one on equal footing.
Where the outliers hide
The averages here are shipment-weighted, so a high-volume lane pulls them more than a lane you ship twice a year — which is exactly how your spend actually behaves. Sort your eye down the cost-per-mile column and the lanes worth renegotiating jump out. Save the lane list and it reopens here or in the Freight Spend Benchmark for the next round.
Annual spend = rate × shipments · $/mile = rate ÷ miles · $/lb = rate ÷ weight. Weighted average $/mile = total spend ÷ total shipment-miles.
